ABOUT US
Lakes Area Rescue is dedicated to providing vital emergency medical services (EMS) in Crow Wing County, Cass County, and Brainerd. As a Medical Response Unit (MRU), we are officially recognized by the Emergency Medical Services Regulatory Board of Minnesota (EMSRB). In emergencies, our team is dispatched through the Crow Wing County and Cass County Sheriff's offices following a 911 call. Our role is crucial in delivering an array of medical and rescue services on-site, ensuring patients receive immediate care until further transportation is possible.
Our team is a diverse group of professionals, including nurses, paramedics, EMTs (emergency medical technicians), EMRs (emergency medical responders), and firefighters. Many of our members also serve in nearby fire departments, such as Nisswa and Mission Township. Presently, we have 18 dedicated members responding to emergencies across Crow Wing County, Cass County, and Brainerd. Last year alone, we answered over 300 calls, providing essential services to a community of around 6,500 people, covering 2,400 homes, numerous businesses, resorts, and over 90 miles of public roads.
For nearly two decades, we have been a cornerstone of emergency response in our community. In 2022, we took a significant step by incorporating as a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization. This allows us to raise funds to better support our first responders in acquiring the necessary medical equipment and supplies. Previously, our team members utilized their own resources, including equipment, funds, and vehicles. Our current fundraising efforts are focused on ensuring each member is fully equipped with the right medical tools.
